| “ | Essentially Christopher Duffy is a figurative artist; contextually his work reflects the Human condition, the strength and fragility of contemporary man in today’s perplexing society. The inclusion in his paintings of seemingly contradictory imagery such as leopards etc, juxtaposed with his figures is a representation of artistic freedom and self-expression. Therefore, each work emerges, as an untitled metaphor dictated by Duffy’s existential state of mind and his continued study of the painting process itself. Since the completion of his studies at La trobe University Bendigo in 1999, Duffy has effectively made a living as a full time professional artist, having many exhibitions and inclusions in various national and international private collections. Heading the rapidly expanding list of clients who own Duffy’s distinctive paintings is, Carlton & United Breweries who he was commissioned by to create thirty-five drawings to celebrate the Sydney 2000 Olympic and Paralympic games. As well as various leaders and patriarchs within the art world. Recently Duffy has been invited to exhibit his work in the sixth edition of the Florence Biennale of Contemporary International Art in December 2007, which will take place at the historic Fortezza da Basso in Italy. |
